DIY Girls Mission

DIY Girls mission is to increase girls' and gender-expansive youth's interest and long-term success in technology, engineering, and making through innovative educational experiences and mentor relationships.

Fun Facts

This year we have 3 former Invent Girls instructing and mentoring our 2023-24 cohort. Patricia Cruz is our Invent Girls instructor and DIY Girls Alumna with a degree in Computer Engineering. As a recent graduate, she aspires to give back to her community by passing the baton to the next generation of future engineers.

Our Impact

100% of our Invent Girls enroll in college after high school. 64% of our alumni are currently pursuing or have pursued a STEM degree. 92% of our Invent Girls believe they can be successful in a career in STEM. We have a range of Invent Girls in the workforce, from Industrial Engineering to Mechanical Engineering at Raytheon to Electrical Engineering at Tesla.

STEM Projects

Every year we build a take-home-engineered project that our students get to keep in the spring by learning engineering fundamentals and skills in the fall through mini STEAM projects. Those mini projects include Neon Desktop Lamps, Soundwave paintings, Traffic Light simulators, 3D-designed and printed jewelry, programming neopixels, and more.
